Abandoned “Red Dress Manor” - Former Dairy Farm (Powys, Mid Wales)

After being nicknamed “Red Dress Manor”, the former dairy farm and family home is known as Calcott Hall and has now been lying empty for 40 years in Mid Wales. Built circa 1725 and listed as a Grade II building, the property became abandoned in the 70’s due to the owner falling ill and passing away. The place quickly gained the nickname of “Red Dress Manor” as there was a distinctive red dress left in an empty closet which has since been removed. The farmhouse is built in Georgian style and is quite clearly deteriorating.

The roof of the eerie barn really symbolised what had happened to the entire place – purely a skeleton of what once was. A creepy outline in the barn soon showed to be a large black bag just hanging from the beams…thoughts start unravelling as to what could be inside. There were wonderful derelict vintage cars that are just left to rust now and for nature to take over. The site was a truly wonderful exploration and unfortunately did not manage to investigate the rest of the lot…so who knows what else is left there just waiting to be discovered.
