NYC singer #LaurelleSings to be the next global star with funky soul music

“I have been singing pretty much my whole life” states R&B soul singer Laurelle. From her hometown of Virginia to the lively New York City, the music artist is chasing her dreams and aspiring a full time profession in the music industry. Musician Laurelle has had the privilege of a home recording studio at the age of three and advantages from her musically talented father, who was also in a band.

Inspired by the American Idol when aged 10, Laurelle found her intuition as a singer when she got encouraged by Kelly Clarkson’s vibrato and she knew she wanted to reach her potential as a professional vocalist. Thus it is no surprise that a year later she started working on her 1st demo CD with the help of her compassionate parents who put money together to make this work. “Having their support has definitely made it easier for me” Laurelle explains. Her parents have been influential individuals to the singers’ life, especially her mother who recognised her talent from an early age. “My mom is a strong lady” Laurelle discloses that even when her mother is suffering with health issues and life struggles, she maintains a positive attitude and remains a role model for her daughter. Musically wise, artist Laurelle has looked up to icons such as Diana Ross and believes in “women empowerment all the way”. It is all about females making a stand with their music and making their mark. A futuristic funk R&B album might be next due to the inspiration of the 70’s music.

Being entirely independent means coordinating her whole music career herself due to not having the presence of a manager. From performances to her tracks, everything is managed herself. “People have a different vision and they don’t really see your vision” Laurelle talks about the issues of finding a relatable manager for partnership in her music. Up and coming Laurelle has had the pleasure of experiencing her first tour where she states “I got in my car and drove for two months”. The vocalist travelled for a vast 15,000 miles performing in cities including Philadelphia, Virginia, North and South Carolina.

Life experiences have influenced the lyrical side of the journey however singer Laurelle enjoys listening to other people’s stories as everyone is an interesting individual. “People started music to tell stories and express themselves” declares Laurelle. Her first music video ‘Speaking in Tongues’ was filmed by a fellow friend of hers has reached close to three thousand views and Laurelle is proud of this achievement. What initially started off as a freestyle transformed into an epic song written in an incredible timing of 30 minutes featuring rapper Dreamcast. A heartbreak inspired Laurelle to write ‘Sucker for Love’, as she believes “we have all played a sucker for love” relating to deep connection in limbo phases. The phenomenal EP ‘The Journey’ was released on the singers’ birthday, “the reason why I called it ‘The Journey’ was because the songs I wrote not only are a reflection of a point of where I was in my life but more so where I was”. Laurelle continues to clarify that some tracks from the EP are from four years and represents her musical journey.

Latest show in DC was a hit when Laurelle demonstrated her vocal talents in a fashionable taste at a global show named ‘Sofar Sounds’ originating in London.
